In Situ occured November 2015. I created over 100 pieces of original ceramic and wood wall works and staged them throughout our small Hazel Park, MI home. In Situ is latin for on location or in place, its meaning is two fold in relation to this project. I attempted to remove artwork for sale from the retail setting, of gallery or shop, in which you can overhear potential customers murmuring "I'll know it when I see it".. followed immediately by "i just can't imagine where it would go or how it would look in my home." Overwhelmed and not innately imaginative, people often buy nothing. I attempted to break these mental barriers by staging the works near our tv, on our dining room table, in my kitchen and bathroom, all the while being lit naturally via windows, not expensive and overly dramatic gallery lighting. The art was literally in place. The second layer of meaning of in situ here is that all of the works were created entirely in my home studios. The ceramics emerging from my basement and the woodworks born in the garage.
